My journey and inspiration in the nail industry
I'm Nikyla Jay Beliveau, the founder & educator of CLAWS for Applause Nail Academy. I've always been creative and have a passion for fashion. I used to get my nails done at the salon and truly enjoyed the process, the environment, and was fascinated with the science behind doing nails. I was especially mesmerized watching the polymerization process between acrylic powder and monomer. All the Nail Technicians at the salon made doing acrylic nails look effortless. That's when I decided to purchase my own acrylic supplies and try to do my own nails. That's where it all started for me. I'm a former graduate of the Canadian Beauty School and have also studied at the Vixxen Gel Nail Academy. I own a mobile nail care business, I'm also the owner of a nail salon, and the proud founder of CLAWS for Applause Nail Academy.

I want them to leave feeling confident in themselves, proud of their creativity, and empowered to build a future they’re excited about. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged, capable, and inspired to grow both personally and professionally. Whether they dream of working in a salon, starting their own business, or simply learning a new skill, I want every student to walk away with confidence, discipline, professionalism, and the belief that they are capable of succeeding.
My unique teaching approach for your success
My teaching approach focuses on creating a supportive, encouraging, and hands-on learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I aim to break techniques down in a simple, realistic way that builds both skill and confidence. What makes my approach unique is that I combine creativity with real-world industry experience. Students not only learn nail techniques, but also professionalism, client care, sanitation, and insights into running a nail business. My goal is to prepare students for success beyond the classroom. Through my experience operating Claws for Applause Nail Services, I’ve gained practical knowledge of the beauty industry, client experience, and the day-to-day realities of building a business. I’m passionate about helping others grow their skills and confidence while sharing what I’ve learned firsthand.
